DONCASTER ST LEGER 1784

The 9th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 28th September 1784 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Omphale, a bay filly by Highflyer out of Calliophe, owned by Mr John Coates. A field of 7 runners contested the race, although there were 12 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 300 Guineas. (Equivalent to £43,800 in 2017)
